The Baroque Music Club is a quality product of Oryx Recordings, a company which has been in the classical recording business for forty years. The company has always specialized in the music of Bach and the baroque period, and draws from an extensive library of recordings originating both from Oryx Studios and from other licensed and available sources.

Many of these recordings date from the 60s and 70s featuring some of the truly great performances. These have been digitally reprocessed and remastered. Others are recent digital recordings. The main criterion is to offer the very best in performance and musicianship, and the baroque period's most engaging works.

Avoiding the extremes of "authentic" performances, our recordings favor the traditional style, where the violins "sing" as baroque composers intended, harpsichords are full-voiced and mellow as Bach is known to have preferred, and tempi are fast enough not to drag, but take a measured and respectful pace maximizing clarity – performance in what we call The Baroque Spirit.

Over many years of recording, listening to and enjoying music we have found that there are performances which start, play, and end, without claiming any special attention. Then there are those which move the listener, which demand one's whole attention, not through racy tempi or aggressive playing, but through simple love of the music and dedication to its own inherent fufilment. These are the performances we seek to bring to our listeners.
